Events at Horton Iris Garden in 2008:

●  Iris Garden and Doug’s Art Studio:
Iris Garden hours: 10 am to 6 pm -- Friday, Sat, Sun, Monday -- during April & May.
Garden will be open on weekends during June for daylily ordering or U – pick lavender bouquets.

●  Your Event:
We  regularly host Car clubs, Mom’s groups, Garden clubs, Red Hat ladies, Spinning clubs, or a group of friends.Call (916) 652-4351 to reserve a date and fee quote for private event. Picnic facilities and gardens are scheduled on a first come, first serve, to private groups during the week.

● A Place To Display YOUR ART on weekends: April - May
The Barn Art Wall is available for artists to display and sell their own art.  Contact us for weekends that are still available for the 40 foot wall in the barn (covered and shaded). Visitors to the iris garden can browse the “art wall gallery”.

● Plein Air 2-day event:
Painting in the gardens or by the pond. On Saturday, the Quick Draw Competition is followed by a reception and awards in the evening.  Email for application -  $15.00 fee for Quick Draw.


●  FREE  Open Studio Art Tour: May 10th-11th, Sat, Sun, 10am-6pm
 The studio doors will be open Mother’s Day weekend showcasing the work of 12 local artists in Loomis Basis area.  For a free map and information please call (916) 652-4351 or visit the Horton Iris Garden, where Doug Horton’s studio is located

Hours: 10 am to 6 pm or call for different week day time. under one of our trees with your picnic lunch.
Choose from 150 different daylilies, many which rebloom again in the fall

Pumkins●  Pumkin Patch   -October weekendsHarvesting Iris's
Pick your own pumpkins from the fields or a farm wagon.  We grow several different varieties of pumpkins – giant to small.  The children enjoy our variety of pet chickens,  sitting on the farm tractors for photos, and running around on the farm.

●  Autumn Art Studio Tour
November  7th, 8th, 9th  -- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Doug Horton’s studio WILL BE one of the stops on the tour.


Events that Horton Iris Garden will be attending:
●  Loomis Eggplant Festival: October 4th, 2008... Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm
Look for antique farm tractor and wagon full of farm products fresh from the farm, including iris rhizomes and pumpkins.  The Eggplant Festival is a street festival with vendors, entertainment, etc., in downtown Loomis..http://www.loomischamber.com/eggplant.asp

●  Placer Farm and Barn Tour:  October 12th, 2008... Sunday,  10 am to 4 pm
TourHorton Iris Garden, Art Studio, and Pumpkin Patch will be one of many stops on the Farm and Barn Tour.This is a fun-filled day for families and people of all ages to explore the   farms and ranches in rural Placer County.  Horton Farm will feature the traditional antique tractors and farm wagon loaded with pumpkins and iris rhizomes (plants) for sale, plus additional farm guests showing their animals, etc.  For more info, visit http://www.placerfarmandbarnfestival.com
